Dr.
Cykiert has been fitting contact lenses for about 20 years
and has one of the largest contact lens practices in New
York City. He has expertise in fitting all types of contact
lenses: hard, gas permeable (semi-soft), soft, soft toric
(astigmatic), one week disposable, two week disposable,
and daily disposable contact lenses. For people in their
40's who need reading glasses or bifocals he also fits bifocal
contact lenses.
Dr.
Cykiert has great expertise in fitting patients who have
been contact lens "failures" in the past and has
a high success rate in getting them to wear contact lenses
comfortably.
Since
he is a corneal specialist, Dr. Cykiert also is an expert
in fitting contact lenses for Keratoconus, a condition where
the cornea warps causing very blurry and distorted vision.
Due
to tremendous patient satisfaction, Dr. Cykiert has been
fitting many patients with 'Acuvue', 'Surevue' and 'One
Day Acuvue' contact lenses. These are very sharp and extremely
comfortable soft lenses that are made by the Vistakon Division
of Johnson & Johnson. They have the extra advantages
of having a small "123" mark on them which makes
it easy to tell when they are inside out, and also have
built in Ultraviolet (UV) Light blocking which is very important
since UV light is harmful to the eyes and is known to cause
cataracts and other eye problems.
Many
of Dr. Cykiert's contact lens patients eventually go on
to have LASIK and Laser Vision Correction. Even though their
contact lenses are comfortable and they see well, many people
have decided to give up the "hassle" of their
contact lenses and gain the additional freedom and convenience
afforded by LASIK.
